There’s a major shift happening in the safety and security arena: AI agents are beginning to replace human monitoring operators.

Is this a good thing? Is this a bad thing?

Stephen and I talk it over in the latest episode of the Entry&Exit podcast. We touch on:

  • From filtering to autonomy: Monitoring centers used to rely on AI to reduce false alarms and assist operators. Now, they’re shifting toward fully autonomous AI agents that can handle security responses end-to-end.
  • Autonomous decision-making: New solutions can monitor video, assess situations, and make decisions on their own, including calling the police without human involvement.
  • Impact on pricing: This shift could significantly lower the cost of video monitoring. Current pricing (around $65/month) makes it hard for dealers to maintain strong margins, and automation should help compress those costs.
  • Industry shift: Video surveillance is becoming the center of the security stack, as the industry moves away from traditional alarm-based monitoring.

The final eight months of 2026 will be very interesting in regards to how this storyline develops. Stay tuned.
